Dear Members:
It’s hard to believe the season of 08 is winding down and we are looking forward to 2009. The Resort experienced another successful year in 2008 and I would like to thank everyone for their support. We have many things to be thankful for such as the new Spikes building and completed irrigation system.
I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving and gets to spend time with family and friends during the holiday weekend. We look forward to seeing you during the upcoming Christmas holiday and hope to see you at our Christmas Brunch.
During the first weeks of December, you will be receiving your 2009 Membership Packet. Please note that there is no increase in membership dues if you pay before January 31, 2009. I hope everyone takes advantage of these great savings. Once again we will be offering Special Golf Memberships and Distance Golf Memberships for those of you that fall underneath those categories. If you have any questions about the memberships, please give myself or Gary and Mike a call.

Ping Pong Tuesdays:
We welcome you to Ping Pong Tuesdays at the Conference Center. This fun-filled night will run every Tuesday during the winter months and begin at 5:00 PM.
November 18 and 25 will be used for open ping pong games and help formulate the first ever LPN Ping Pong league play for the winter months.
Enjoy cold drinks and great food in between games as well throughout the night.

Lake Panorama National Inn & Suites:
Lake Panorama National Inn & Suites offers on site lodging accommodations for your stay at the Resort. The lodging facilities overlook the magnificent golf course and are located within walking distance of the Conference Center and Links Restaurant & Lounge.
Lake Panorama National Inn & Suites offers two bedroom/two bathroom town homes or motel units that feature two double beds or one queen bed. All guests at the Resort have access to the many amenities the Resort offers.

Fitness & Exercise Room:
November/December Hours of Operation:
Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Sunday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
The fitness & exercise room currently has ten machines that will help you improve your health and fitness level. You may pay a daily fee to use the fitness room or purchase a membership. Memberships are available for a year, six months, three months, or monthly. Membership categories include single, couple, and family.
Membership information may be obtained by calling 641-755-2080 or by stopping at the lodging desk on the main floor of the Conference Center.
Lake Panorama National Golf Course:
Winter Course Conditions:
The golf course will remain open for place as long as weather and course turf conditions permit.
In our annual effort to protect our turf grass during the winter months and ensure course conditions are optimal for next spring, the following maintenance has been completed:
November 19 and 19 Heavy Top Dressing will be applied on all greens. The top dressing will remain on the greens over the winter for turf protection. The top dressing will help protect the blades of grass by not exposing the crown of the plant. Even through the course is open, the top dressing is required for our greens and will hopefully help and limit the damage to the plant’s crown caused by foot traffic.
Starting Monday, November 24, play will be CART PATH ONLY. All golf carts must remain on the cart paths during your round. This also includes remaining on the paths to and from the golf course. The irrigation system has been shut down for the winter and therefore, it is very important that golf cart traffic remain off the turf. Remember: Golf cart tracks made in November will still be visible in the spring.
We hope the weather provides more days of golf and we ask that everyone help protect our turf during the upcoming winter months.
Assistant Golf Professional of the Year:
Mike Kleinwolterink has been honored as the 2008 Assistant Golf Professional of the Year by the Iowa Section PGA. The award was presented at the organization’s fall meeting held at Riverside Casino and Golf Resort Oct. 27-28.
Kleinwolterink has worked at Lake Panorama National Golf Resort for 10 years. He started as a teenager in the cart barn and advanced to working in the pro shop. He currently is a PGA apprentice, having completed the first level of a three-step process towards earning his Class A golf professional designation. He has been the LPN assistant pro for three years.Mike is a graduate of the Panorama Community School District and the son of Larry and Glennis Kleinwolterink of Yale.
Kleinwolterink was one of several people honored at the annual awards luncheon where PGA professionals, Junior Tour Player of the Year winners, and Iowa PGA sales representatives were recognized for their accomplishments.
John Dinnebier, LPN general manager and director of golf, presented the awards. He is one of 14 members of the Iowa Section PGA board of directors and chaired the 2008 golf awards committee.
Also attending the two-day event was Gary Babcock, LPN head professional. A merchandise show kicked off the meetings with golf-related vendors showcasing their products. Several educational seminars also were conducted.
Kleinwolterink was presented with a plaque recognizing him for “outstanding overall performance, leadership and promotion of the game of golf.”
