I am beginning to wonder if it will ever stop. I hope this note finds everyone well and hope the sun will shine for more than a couple of hours. 2008 is sure turning into a wet one and I cannot believe that June is almost here and gone.
As you may expect, our major projects; Irrigation and Spikes are slowly moving along and depending on the weather, we anticipate both projects being completed sometime next month.
The golf course is returning to form and course conditions should do nothing but continue to improve. Congratulations to Dan Wollner, Brandon Waddle, and staff for working hard to maintain what we all have come accustomed to.
The Links continues to remain busy and business is strong. We offer both excellent food and service and truly thank you for your support.
Although the weather has not helped, our spirits are high and look forward to serving you in the near future. If there is anything that I or the staff can do to make your experience at the LPN more enjoyable please do not hesitate to call.

Rain rain go away. This season, golfers eager to get out after the long cold winter have experienced weather that by all means is not ideal for golf. With all this rain, the golf course is very wet in areas but the weather has helped the winter kill areas fill in very nicely with the new seed. Friday Couples:
The next couples is scheduled for June 20
Format is a 4-Person Best Shot. The golf staff has selected 2 holes which will be used to determine your team handicap. After your round, the golf staff will multiply the amount over par on the selected holes by two and this will equal the handicap to be deducted.
Example: A team is 2 over par on the selected holes x 2 = 4 handicap. If the team scores a gross 37, their adjusted Net Score will be 33.
Their will be one Gross Winner. All other prizes will be based on Net Scores.
Please sign up in the pro shop or by calling 641-755-2024. You may pick your foursome or the pro shop staff will create the teams if necessary.
Afterwards, enjoy great food and drinks up at the Links and wait to see if you won gift certificates when the staff announces the winning couples.

Lake Panorama National members are encouraged to invite a non-member to play in this event, which is a great way to introduce our course to new people. But you also can play with another member.

The premiere member only event at Lake Panorama National Golf Course, the Ryder Cup is the tournament you do not want to miss. This tournament consists of a kickoff dinner and program on Thursday night, Four-ball matches Friday followed by LPN Employee Shootout and Dinner, Best Shot and Alternate Shot on Saturday followed by Member Shootout and Dinner, and Sunday finishes up with Single Matches and Dinner.
Participants must:
1. Be a member of Lake Panorama National Golf Course
2. Have a current USGA handicap
3. Have played and posted scores for a minimum of ten, 18-hole rounds from July 1st, 2007 through July 1st, 2008
4. Be available at these times:
Thursday, August 7 – 6:30 – 9:00 PM
Friday, August 8 – 11:00 AM

The GCSB 24/7 @ Home Lake Panorama Realty 8th Annual Men's Member / Guest Tournament:
This past weekend, the 8th Annual Men’s Member / Guest was conducted at Lake Panorama National. Saturday’s play was completed while Sunday resulted in a rain out.
Saturday’s winners of the team quota were Bill Douglass and Jason Buchanan with a score of +8. In second place was Bruce and Steve Ahrendsen with a score of +7 followed by Corey and Brad Welberg with a score of +5.
The exciting shoot-out featured heavy hitters and it came down to the driveable Hole #9 with the windy conditions. Winning the shoot-out was member Bruce Ahrendsen with guest Tyler Brooks. Second place went to member Barry Monaghan with guest Kirk Viehl and third place went to member Les Marks and guest Larry Peterson.
A big thanks goes to the key sponsors of the event, Guthrie County State Bank, Lake Panorama Realty, and GCSB Investment Center. Once again, they put on the premier event of the golfing season.

2008 Junior Golf:
Once again, LPN and it’s golf professional staff are dedicated to providing junior golfers the opportunity to experience the wonderful game of golf.
10th Annual Junior Golf School:
Your junior will enjoy golf instruction and golf etiquette along with fun and refreshments while attending the 10th Annual Junior Golf School. The Lake Panorama National Junior Golf School is sponsored by Guthrie County State Bank and Lake Panorama Association.
Open to Junior Ages 5 to 17
Dates: Wednesday, June 11 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM (Cancelled due to Rain)
The first day of Junior School will be made up in the future. Currently, the golf professionals are working with possible dates for the make-up. We will let the students attending know of the new date or dates as soon as possible.

Lake Panorama National 2008 Adopt-a-bed Volunteer Project:
Be careful not to get your hopes up, but I think spring is finally here!
As long as there are so many changes going on this year at LPNGC, we might as well add one more. Since I have a full time job at Guthrie County State Bank I don’t have the time (or energy) needed to do a good job landscaping on the golf course. I really didn’t want to give up working on the course, so the last two summers I tried to work evenings and weekends, but it wasn’t enough to keep the landscaping up the way it should be.
So we found a good replacement – I’m passing my trowel on to Janis Hochreiter. She has a lot of good ideas and lots of energy (and has a better summer schedule to get out and work). Janis will be great!! We are going to continue with the adopt-a-bed program.
Last year, we had so many great volunteers (I can’t thank all of you enough) and many have signed back up to take a bed again. There are several beds still available for adoption. Janis is working up a new list and will send a note out for people still interested in taking care of a bed.
Thanks for so many years of support, but I ‘m not totally gone. I’m worried that I will have a dirt withdrawal, so I’ve kept a couple beds to work on yet this summer. I’ll see you out on the golf course.
