Dear Members;
What is going on with this weather? Global warming???? The good news is that the golfing season is still young and we should have plenty of good days to come.
The Links Restaurant & Lounge continues to be the place to be and business is very strong and we thank you for your support. As the summer continues to move along we will be hosting many events and unfortunately we will at times need to close the Links due to the size of the event. I will do my best to keep everyone informed as these dates approach.
Our major projects are moving along nicely but have slowed due to poor weather conditions. All main lines of the irrigation system are finished and the Commercial Crew is working on individual holes placing heads. This project should be completed sometime in mid-July if the weather starts to cooperate.
The golf course continues to improve in condition after the long cold winter. During the month of May we have slit seeded, deep tined greens, and if you have played recently we have expanded our no mow areas. Dan and Brandon are at full crew and will be mowing on a regular basis. The rough has been lowered to 2 ¼ inches and balls should be easier to find. The hole that the irrigation workers will be on will be closed Monday thru Thursday. Please check in the pro shop to find out which hole will be closed for that day. We apologize for this inconvenience, but the completed irrigation system will be great.
Spikes is moving along nicely and what a fine addition this building will be. Thanks to all those who have sent both money and in-kind donations to this project. Without your support we would never have been able to move forward on this project. We are still accepting donations and you can reach myself or Judy Contner at the LPA if you would like to make a donation.
Summer is coming and we look forward to a fine year. Thank you for all your support.
It is a pleasure to serve you.
Sincerely,
John Dinnebier , GM
SALE PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT SPIKES
There is good news and bad news. The bad news is that Bob and Marion Malone will be leaving Lake Panorama this fall for a new, full-time home in Florida.
The good news is the Malones have donated many wonderful items for a garage sale at their home, with all proceeds going to help support the construction of Spikes.
The two-day sale will be June 6-7. The sale will be open from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Malones live at 5222 Bean Bend Road on the east side of Lake Panorama. From the LPN, take Clover Ridge Road east to the stop sign. Take a left on Panorama Drive. Bean Bend is the first road to the right.
The sale will include tools, outdoor recreation items, golf equipment, many home decorating pieces, bedding, towels, some furniture, Lake Panorama-related items, books, and much, much more.
To increase the amount of money raised for Spikes, donations of baked goods and larger, quality household and outdoor items are welcome. Items being donated can be delivered to the Malone home between 8 a.m. and noon on June 6.
Members of the Spikes fundraising committee are assisting with the sale. Other volunteers are welcome, both for setting up the sale the morning of June 6 or helping during sale hours. To volunteer, or if you have questions, contact Susan Thompson at 755-4382 or Judy Contner at 755-2301.
Don’t miss this sale! You’ll go home with some treasures, and help finish and furnish Spikes!

Lake Panorama National 2008 Adopt-a-bed Volunteer Project
Be careful not to get your hopes up, but I think spring is finally here!
As long as there are so many changes going on this year at LPNGC, we might as well add one more. Since I have a full time job at Guthrie County State Bank I don’t have the time (or energy) needed to do a good job landscaping on the golf course. I really didn’t want to give up working on the course, so the last two summers I tried to work evenings and weekends, but it wasn’t enough to keep the landscaping up the way it should be.
So we found a good replacement – I’m passing my trowel on to Janis Hochreiter. She has a lot of good ideas and lots of energy (and has a better summer schedule to get out and work). Janis will be great!! We are going to continue with the adopt-a-bed program.
Last year, we had so many great volunteers (I can’t thank all of you enough) and many have signed back up to take a bed again. There are several beds still available for adoption. Janis is working up a new list and will send a note out for people still interested in taking care of a bed.
Thanks for so many years of support, but I ‘m not totally gone. I’m worried that I will have a dirt withdrawal, so I’ve kept a couple beds to work on yet this summer. I’ll see you out on the golf course.
We appreciate all the work done last year! Here is a list of those that adopted beds in 2008. If you see any of them, tell them thanks for getting the project off to such a great start!
