We have many projects planned for 2008 and we look forward to our new snack shop building and double row irrigation system, both scheduled to begin work in the spring of 2008. These improvements will surely add a much needed face lift between the first and tenth tee and golf course playing conditions.
The Links Restaurant and Lounge continues to be a popular place to dine and we will continue to remain open Tuesdays thru Sundays. The Links will be serving both lunch and dinner Tuesdays thru Saturdays and lunch only on Sundays. Below you will find information regarding Super Bowl Sunday and we hope all can attend.
Remember that you have about 15 days to take advantage of the early bird membership special. Pay your dues before February 1st and save! More information about the 2008 Golf Memberships can be found below.

Construction on New Lake Panorama National Building to Begin this Spring:

The private fundraising campaign to finance a new snack and restroom facility on the Lake Panorama National Golf Course hit an important milestone in early January when cash donations surpassed the $100,000 mark. Those funds, plus several significant in-kind donations of materials, labor and equipment, led the LPN advisory committee to vote Jan. 8 to proceed with construction of a new building.
The Panora Fire Department will burn the present building in mid-February. Construction will get underway as soon as spring weather conditions allow. The hope is to have the building open for most of the 2008 golfing season.
The fundraising campaign began in October, with an informational letter, donor form and brochure distributed to LPA members in the regular quarterly mailing. John Dinnebier, LPN general manager, says fund drive organizers have been very pleased with the response.
“We didn’t know when we started if we would come close to raising the necessary funds,” he says. “But checks starting coming in and area businesses stepped forward to support the project. Several individuals pledged significant contributions of material and labor. We’re very appreciative of the widespread support this project has received.”
The new building will feature two covered porches — one on the east with a view of the golf course and one on the west with a view of Lake Panorama. Restrooms on the north will have entrances from both the interior and exterior so these facilities can remain open when the rest of the building is closed. The snack shop section includes more cooler and counter space, making it possible to offer additional food options such as breakfast items and pizza. The building will have heat and air conditioning for year-round use.
The old building didn’t have an official name, but most people called it the “snack shack” or “turn shed.” The advisory committee felt it would be important to have this new building bear a new name, so a contest was conducted with donors submitting their ideas.
After reviewing about 75 submissions, the committee chose “Spikes” as the name for the new building. The winning name was submitted by Dave and Shanell Wagler, who will receive a free 2008 family golf membership.
Individual donor forms returned by Dec. 22 that accompanied any size donation were entered into a random drawing. The winners of the drawing were William and Marianne Favaro. They will receive $500 in 2008 LPN Diners Club credit.
Dinnebier says even though a fundraising threshold was reached to allow the project to proceed, donations still are being solicited. “We know there will be unexpected expenses we’ll need to cover. And we hope to have enough money or in-kind contributions to outfit this facility with new furniture, an ice machine and other equipment that will make it possible for us to offer services the LPA membership and guests want and enjoy,” he says.
There are individual, in-kind and corporate-giving options. Those who give $500 or more will be honored on plaques in the new building.
The corporate giving option is geared to businesses and groups interested in signing a term contract for tax-deductible advertising on the LPN golf course. So far, five businesses have purchased advertising signs, including Broker’s International, Bryton Insurance, Guthrie County State Bank, Panora Telecommunications and Total Financial Solutions.

The fitness & exercise room currently has ten machines that will help you improve your health and fitness level. You may pay a daily fee to use the fitness room or purchase a membership. Memberships are available for a year, six months, three months, or monthly. Membership categories include single, couple, and family.

Lake Panorama National Golf Course:
Another year has ended at Lake Panorama National and we are starting plans for the New Year. The winter weather of Iowa has caused the golf course to be closed since November, but lets all hope that we have an early spring. Once again, we have scheduled a summer full of events for members and guests and we look forward to seeing you on the Links this spring.
2008 Golf Memberships:
Your LPN Staff has put together another exciting year and we are looking forward to serving all of you in 2008. Our golf course will host numerous Member events and a number of statewide PGA, Senior PGA, IGA, IWGA competitions, and corporate and charitable outings. Once again, proving our facility is one of the finest in the state of Iowa and is undeniably the choice for those who value a membership that has so much to offer.
The 2008 applications were send out early this year so you can take advantage of our Early Bird membership rates – pay by February 1st, 2008 and save. Men's League:
Lake Panorama National members enjoy the great opportunity to join our Men’s League for 2008. Once again, we will offer three different leagues: Noon League, 3:00 PM League and 6:00 PM League.
Please send in your entry form as soon as possible for the golf professional staff to form the leagues. Priority will be given to teams that played in 2007 in case there are more than 36 teams for 3:00 PM or 6:00 PM leagues.

Current Winter Pro Shop Hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. With the winter weather and possible slick road conditions, please call beforehand to make sure the pro shop is open.
