A New Building – A New Name:

Dear Members:

Hopefully we still have golf days left, but fall and winter are rapidly approaching and the year is coming to an end. I want to thank everyone for their support and appreciate what everyone has done for Lake Panorama Resort and Conference Center. We are having our best year ever and it is only because of you and your support.

I have heard talk over the past couple of weeks and been asked questions regarding the replacement of the old snack shop and the status of our fundraising campaign. I’m pleased to report that in just three weeks, we have raised more than $32,000 and checks continue to arrive daily. Thanks to everyone for their donations. Both golf members and non-golf members have sent donations. It is nice to see that people understand a new building will benefit both the golf course and Lake Panorama Association as a whole.

The current building is scheduled to be burned at no charge by the Panora Fire Department after the first of the year but that will not be done until we meet our goal and raise enough money to begin construction on a new building this spring. It also is important for me to let everyone know that if enough money is not raised to make this building a reality, all money will be returned to donors.

If you plan to donate, I encourage you to do so by December 15 to help make it possible for a decision on this project to be made before the first of the year. December 15 also is the deadline to be eligible for two prizes. The person whose suggestion for a name for the new building is chosen will receive a 2008 golf membership. Also, a drawing will be held from all donors and one lucky winner will receive $500 in credit to the Links Restaurant and Lounge. In the near future we will be posting fundraising posters in the Links Restaurant, pro shop, fitness room and front entrance to keep everyone up-to-date on where we stand. We appreciate all you do.

Sincerely,

John Dinnebier

Below is the letter written by the Lake Panorama National Advisory Committee to go along with the fundraising form and brochure. The fundraising form and brochure are available for you to pick up at the front desk and pro shop at Lake Panorama National Resort.

For further questions, please give the LPN Advisory Committee Members or Judy Contner at the LPA office a call to discuss the fundraising campaign. Committee Members are Mary Hills, Mark Juhl, LeRoy Oxley, Fay Petersen, Kent Stephenson, and Susan Thompson.

Dear Friends,

Lake Panorama National Golf Course opened for business 36 years ago with nine holes and the promise of nine more. Sales people brought in trailers to talk to potential lot owners and the dream became a reality. Eight years later two of the trailers were pulled together between the 1st and 10th holes to be used as a starter shack. That “temporary” building has long outlived its usefulness!

Because of a number of infrastructure needs facing the LPA, replacing this building using LPA funds is not expected in the near future. So the Lake Panorama National Advisory Committee has taken the lead on a private fundraising campaign with plans to get this new building open for the 2008 season.

These volunteers have been working with another volunteer, retired architect and LPA resident Bob Vandeventer, on a building design. It includes two covered porches — one on the east with a view of the golf course and one on the west with a view of Lake Panorama. Restrooms on the north will have entrances from both the interior and exterior so these facilities can remain open when the rest of the building is closed. The snack shop section includes more cooler and counter space, making it possible to offer additional food options. The building will have heat and air conditioning for year-round use.

An estimated $150,000 is needed to cover construction and furnishings. We are anxious for you to be a part of this endeavor and there are several ways to do so. A brochure distributed with this letter provides details on individual, in-kind and corporate giving options. There is a form on the reverse side of this letter to complete when making an individual donation. Please consider making a gift of any amount! Every dollar will be appreciated. Those who give $500 or more will be honored on plaques in the new building.

Forms returned by Dec. 15, 2007 that accompany any size individual donation will be entered into a random drawing during the LPN New Year’s Eve party Dec. 31. The winner will receive $500 in 2008 LPN Diners Club credit. We also need a name for the new building! Enter your ideas for a name on the form when you submit your donation. The LPN Advisory Committee will choose the new name from entries and the winner will receive a free family golf membership for 2008!

Lake Panorama National brings dollars to the lake and surrounding area through the multiplier effect — the more dollars spent at the golf course and conference center, the more dollars spent in the community. This is a building that will make Lake Panorama residents and Lake Panorama National members proud, enhancing the appeal of an already beautiful place. Your gift will make it possible.

Let’s do it now!

Your Lake Panorama National Advisory Committee

The 3rd Annual Black and Gold Invitational:

Consider this your invitation to play in this event. This annual event was held at the Harvester Golf Club in 2005 and moved to our great facility last year.
The Details:
Date: Saturday, October 20th
Time: 11:00am Shotgun Start
Where: Lake Panorama National Golf Course
Who: Men and Women of LPN (open to public)
Cost: LPN Members: $10 per person. Non LPN Members: $40 per person.
Format: 18 Holes. Individaul Stroke Play. Net scores are used to determine winners.
Divisions: Men and Women Divisions, tournament flighted based on amount of entries.
Sign-Ups: Sign up as an individual. Tournament Director (Goo) makes pairings based on handicap and gender.
Format Specifics: HERKY HANDICAP (you do not have to be a Hawkeye fan to play in this event---Iowa plays at Purdue on this date).HERKY HANDICAP:Six Blind Holes are used to determine your handicap for this event. (one par 3, one par 4, and one par 5 on each side). These holes are determined after tee off and will remain hidden until completion of play.
How it works (Example):Ed shoots 14 over par on the Blind Six Holes. His Gross Score is 108. The amount over par (14) is multiplied by 3 which equals 42. Therefore, Ed's Herky Handicap is 42. Ed subtracts 42 from 108 and this gives him a net score of: 66.Note: A player is not allowed to score more than a gross triple bogey. Once a player reaches the maximum score of triple bogey on a hole, he or she may pick up ball and move to the next tee.Additional rule: Hole #12 will be played by the Men from the Blue Tee. The Women will tee from the Red. Each player (men and women) are allowed one FREE throw on Hole #12. The throw can be used anywhere except from the tee box.
